        She Is My Mommy!

Many transracial adoptive parents feel anxious on the first day of school of their little one. It is a big step for both the adoptive parent(s) and the child.

Parents can use this book as an example to their little one about the outside world. Both the good and the not-so-good that their child may face, once he/she is out of the parent’s protective shield. And it also helps create the understanding that everyone has something different and special.

Your Jokes Are Not Funny!

Many times jokes may be bullying in disguise. Kids don’t want to stand up for themselves when up against the phrase “I was just joking”. They are usually scared to be labeled a tattletale, crybaby or sensitive.

That is what happened to Nate when two bullies tried to ruin his day.

The bullies said it was only a joke, but they were the only ones laughing.

With the help of his best friend and the intervention of an adult, Nate was comforted. And the bullies did get a lesson as well.

Parents need to listen to their kids all the time and do all they can for their kids to get their confidence back. Nate’s father just did that.
